What have the Turner's been doing lately?

I am so bad at this blogging thing. Maybe after a while I'll have more time. So in response to Jared's last post one of us (him) was a little bit nervous about labor after our birthing class, and one of us (me) was FREAKED OUT!!!! He just forgot to mention that part, and how obsessed I've been thinking about all of the horrible things and how scary they make it sound and asking him question after question because he's the "medical" expert of the family. So this is what we've been up to for the past month:

Organizing the basement (no picture) just use your imagination on this one
Making curtains for our mini-windows so we don't go blind
Refurbishing one of these 50-year-old hand-me-down dressers for Baby Turner
Before
After - not kidding...it turned out great!
We also bought her bedding (butterflies) and this awesome chair...it is sooooo comfortable
Got a PINK car seat and stroller (Jared wouldn't have it any other way) and...he even wanted to take if for a test run around the block but I talked him into walking it up and down the hallway
And last but not least (my favorite part) fixed up my lame interior decorating skills
Before
After...you got to see it in person
So, I bought some haybales thinking I could do something creative with them...
Jared hated them...
I couldn't figure out how to get them to look like this...but yeah totally what I was imagining in my head...
Then my co-worker friend came to my rescue and created these wonderful arrangements with all my same stuff + some and I love it!!!!
She would love to start her own business some day...
and now Jared really likes them...

Here's one of the first pictures of Baby Turner:
Jill and I got to have a free 3-D ultrasound as part of a package deal with our last OB. I can still hardly believe that she is really in there even with this proof. We are really excited to have her join our family soon. Last week we went to our first birthing class to find out what we have gotten ourselves into. We both left the class feeling a little nervous, but everything is starting to sink in and the process sounds less scary each day.

Summer Update

Jared and I have been quite busy the last few weeks, and hope it starts to slow down soon. First we had a fun time with my family in Island Park. We actually took a ton of pictures this time too, however, most of them were on Jared's phone which got wet while we floated down the river. Pray that it will come back to life, then we can post some. Jared spent most of June studying for his boards and passed...both of them! He's been an "official" Pharmacist now for about 2 weeks. We enjoyed our 4th of July this year, by sleeping in, (we missed the annual Turner Breakfast... ooops) taking a nap, helping Aaron and Vanae put in our old window AC units into their apartment, attending 2 different bar-b-ques, and of course watching the Bergeson's blast off all the illegal fireworks possible. I had a day off this week after we got back from our trip to Island Park and had a stark realization of how hot our house really is by spending the day in it. I was miserable and called to get our own AC in quickly so I could survive the rest of the summer being pregnant. It has been sooooooo nice :) Lastly, everyone keeps asking me at work, and home what baby stuff we have, what colors I've picked for the nursery etc. The answer is nothing to all of it, we haven't even had time to think about any of that stuff and so I spent the whole day yesterday weeding, and putting in the last touches on our yard so we can just be done with it! It turned out quite nice and I am excited because now I just have 1 more tree and a few bleeding hearts that I'm planting, then we can just watch it all grow :) It's been a pretty big job- but hopefully within the week we can start planning and getting ready for some baby furniture instead. Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!!!! I've posted a few pictures of our adventures.

The Bingo Game - with prizes - my dad looks pretty official calling the numbers

I accidentally started opening the "guy" presents :)

Jared blasted his double blaster so hard it broke - this is him fixing it

Happy Birthday Cindy!

She gets to celebrate it on the 4th every year, I made this sweet Red, White, and Blue fruit basket for her!

This is Jared's 4th of July Bazoooka! All the guys were wondering if you could shoot a firework through one of Grandpa Bergeson's pipes???? Well, you can and it almost lit the field on fire!

Bear Lake

Jared and I went with his family last weekend to Bear Lake. We rented a cabin there, and had way fun. I laugh because we always have good intentions of taking lots of pictures but neither of us brings the camera whenever we go somewhere. So, here are a couple of pictures that we actually did take. In the midst of all the rain, and yes SNOW, we managed a couple of nice 4-wheel rides, swimming in the pool, a hike through the Minnetonka Caves, and of course, the story of the Bear Lake Monster. Jared and I actually had to leave a couple of days early because #1 neither of us have enough vacation to take 4 days off, and #2 Jared has been studying HARD for his licensure exams, even on his vacation :( Maybe next year we'll have less responsibilities!

Oh yeah-and did I mention that it rained a lot and even snowed? We spent most of the time in doors watching everyone beat the "old school nintendo" visiting, eating, and watching movies. That is how Jared was able to get so much studying done, YEA!

Baby Turner

Jared and I had our 18 week appointment on Thursday. We were really surprised when the nurse and doctor said we could schedule an ultrasound. We were thinking it would still be about 2 weeks away. Of course, Jared asked them if we could do it RIGHT NOW but they couldn't get us in until Friday. So grandbaby Bergeson #7 (which will be the 3rd one for 2008) and grandbaby Turner #5 (which will also be the 3rd one for 2008) is a...

GIRL! And she is so cute already! I can't figure out how they can tell stuff from some of these pictures but the ultrasound went great and we are still hoping that everything is OK since the technician can't ever tell you any bad news. She explained everything that she could so that was nice. We did count 10 fingers 10 toes, kidneys, spine, lips, nose, feet and hands, and the blood-a good sign. I felt lucky because we were the last appointment for the day and she did a really thorough job in an hour and a half. It was way fun, and she gave us a lot of pictures. Jared keeps getting mad at me for telling this story but in the first minute of the ultrasound the technician said well, it looks like it's a girl and I turned to look at Jared and his mouth was hanging open in disbelief. Not sure if it was because it wasn't a boy, or because there was something actually moving and it seemed real, or because the technician told us so quickly and very matter of fact! We are excited! They confirmed my due date again as 10/23/08 which Grandma Bergeson was very exited about because it's her birthday!
I also wanted to post some pictures of Jared and I's latest yard projects....
I looked out the window and what did I see? This boy in a car whose is he?

Actually this is our sprinkler guy, he drove his car over...HA! This is the neighbor boy that comes to help his dad do the landscaping and is quite experienced. I asked him if I could take his picture, he frowned, and shook his head no-I think he was just really cold!

Jared in knee deep dirt.
He just couldn't just stay in the house and went to help dig some of the trenches
SOD-we felt lucky again that we had a brief break in the rain, and wind to put the sod down...WAY HARD WORK!

Are we done yet?

Ah-the finished product
Jared's parents surprised me with a Lilac Bush you can see under our window
We haven't quite decided where to put it yet, but I'm way excited about it

Garden Spot

And...our first Bar-B-Que with Chef Angela

Actually all the guys were way tired and sick from all the hard work they didn't even really want to eat :) We appreciated everyone that came to help us even my 2 80-year-old grandpas. They are such "Stallions" as Jared says! Thanks everyone!

At Least I Voted!

Well-I was pretty sad last night when Archuleta didn't win. BUT, at least I voted. I think I would have felt worse (if I hadn't have voted) to be wondering if I would have voted if it would have changed all the results...HA! Actually I thought the best part of the night (since he lost) was Gladys Knight and her PIPS; that was hilarious. I also thought the de-highlight was Carrie Underwood and her underwear almost being caught on camera, that was way too short of a skirt thing or whatever, and obviously the camera man was thrilled with it. I really liked her until then, and I feel so bad now that she can't even remember her own last name because she was so drunk!!

In the meantime, Jared and I have some BIG news oursevles. We got our gay sprinklers in finally, and our rain gutters today just in time for all the showers we've been having. I will update with some pictures soon as they are more fun than just reading stuff, and we hope to lay our sod this weekend too. Jared actually has 4 days off for the long weekend so hopefully we will be able to get some yard stuff done. Oh-and one last thing...if anyone is interested in this cool website my friend showed it to me. www.springhillnursery.com. You can select a specific garden and they send you the bulbs with a map of how to arrange everything...it's pretty cool. They also have tons of other stuff to plant for your specific zone. Hopefully later this summer I can post some pictures of the end result :)
