Christmas in Review

I mentioned on my previous post more blogging to come and I've been wanting to post some pictures from Christmas so here are the highlights from the season and the pictures to go along. (Just a side note) One of my new year's resolutions is to carry my OWN camera and take my OWN pictures. We usually forget it or we take it but forget to get it out and have to get pictures from everyone else. Hence the delay in the Christmas post ... this might be kind of long :) Sorry!

Jared planned a festive party with tons of food...lots of people...and mostly fun!

We were excited to see our neice Paige on New Years as she has been in and out of Primary Childrens (but mostly in) since the day after Thanksgiving and she and her mom weren't able to be around much for the holidays. We hope she continues to get better and think of her everyday. If it wasn't for staying up until 3AM we would have started out the new year right!

WE ARE SO BLESSED AND HOPE 2009 IS AS GREAT AS 2008!

A Photo Shoot

Super Karlie!!!! Was blessed last Sunday. She looked so cute in her dress (even though I ripped the sleeves trying to get her chubby arms in it) It was a very special day with lots of grandmas to hold her. Thanks to all who came, we had a great party, and I think she knew the whole day was just for her...

Our friend made these Mary Jane shoes (the leathery kind) for Karlie, we had to try them on her I was also going to post some pictures of all of our festive neighbors and their lights but I haven't had a chance to go out in the dark and cold to do it yet. So instead here are a few more pictures of our little Karlie. She is getting bigger, getting the yucky skin thing that babies get, and along with Jared and I has a little cold right now. Poor Thing...I'm just glad we got it now so we can still enjoy the holidays with our families! This is my attempt at her first photo shoot. My sis-in-law gave me this cute red and white Christmas dress, and my aunt gave me the pink wintery one. I had to try them both on her, I think we got some cute pictures.

It somehow took me all day to take a few pictures because we had to eat, change, and nap during it all

Cousin Dallin, he is just over a month older than Karlie, we couldn't ever get them to make eye contact with each other. My sister and I had fun swapping babies and also pretending that we had twins, it was hard to hold the wiggly things at the same time.

In a Month

It's amazing how much a newborn changes in just 1 month. We really are very blessed and feel like the luckiest parents with such a good baby, and the cutest one on earth! A few things I have learned in the past month:
1. It's okay to have a messy house and have lots of laundry to do all the time
2. Things like plucking my eyebrows seem pretty insignificant
3. It's harder for me to get woken up in the middle of the night than I had ever thought
4. Being a mom really is the best job ever
5. Having a husband/daddy that runs to you and your baby at even the tiniest whimper is nice to have around and a BIG help
6. Our little Karlie is extra special
7. It's okay to LOVE a lot
8. Naps are great but sometimes not all that they're cracked up to be
9. Nursing is hard for some moms and babies
10. Bath time is WAY fun
11. Baby bums are super tiny and cute
12. I'm more blessed than I thought
13. I wouldn't trade my experiences for ANYTHING
14. It's fun to have visitors
15. It's easier and fun to go places with a newborn than I thought it would be
16. Babies are really smart recognizing music and their moms voice...and probably their dad too :)

Karlie Turner

Karlie Turner is finally here!
Born Wednesday, October 15th, at 7:35 AM, she was 19 & 1/2 inches and weighed in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Her Doctor looked her over for quite a while and finally said "I just can't seem to find anything wrong with this baby. She's perfect!" It felt good to hear those words and to know that all of our prayers over the past year have been heard and answered. We want to say thanks to everyone who came to visit us in the hospital and at home. Yesterday was her 1 week birthday, and we can't believe how quickly the time has gone by (maybe it's a lack of sleep). Dad has been going nuts with the camera. He absolutely adores her, and Mom has never felt more blessed in her life. Here are some pictures, Enjoy!

My job just got a whole lot easier!

I'm sure every mommy and mommy-to-be has had a lot of thoughts similar to mine and just wonder, "What on earth will I dress her in when she gets here?" Well my job just got a whole lot easier thanks to the love of my family, friends, and co-workers!! I don't have to worry at all any more, they've helped solve my problems...and now I'm thinking, "I'll just dress her in the same thing everyday until she's 6 months old...I really do wonder now how many pair of purple pants does our baby need??

All joking aside I've really had a hard time with this post for real because I've had some of the most overwhelming feelings the last few weeks with all of the wonderful gifts and showers and love that everyone has shown to us. Mainly because I don't deserve it all, but also I'm not one to be comfortable in a large crowd with so many faces staring at me, let alone giving me stuff. I can't express my gratitute enough for my wonderful family, friends, and co-workers, I really feel that I'm so blessed and so lucky! These are the best because of all the time invested and they are all adorable

Working for an Equal Opportunity Employer allows for men at a baby shower...I was so excited that Jared talked his boss into letting him off for an hour to come be with me; we had a fiesta complete with Quesidillas...YUM!

Thanks to Tiff and Brandy for planning the whole event, I'm lucky to get to share cubicle walls with both of these gals and they are great! We actually, on occasion, get some work done!

And no party is complete without pink cupcakes and baby bottles on top! They were so delicious!

What have the Turner's been doing lately?

I am so bad at this blogging thing. Maybe after a while I'll have more time. So in response to Jared's last post one of us (him) was a little bit nervous about labor after our birthing class, and one of us (me) was FREAKED OUT!!!! He just forgot to mention that part, and how obsessed I've been thinking about all of the horrible things and how scary they make it sound and asking him question after question because he's the "medical" expert of the family. So this is what we've been up to for the past month:

Got a PINK car seat and stroller (Jared wouldn't have it any other way) and...he even wanted to take if for a test run around the block but I talked him into walking it up and down the hallway

And last but not least (my favorite part) fixed up my lame interior decorating skills

Then my co-worker friend came to my rescue and created these wonderful arrangements with all my same stuff + some and I love it!!!!

She would love to start her own business some day...

and now Jared really likes them...
